Moxie Fab time!!

Tuesday Trigger: Inspiration Straight from the Pages of Stamp It! Cards

**This is taken straight from the Moxie Fab Website**

Stamp It! Cards Week continues on this happy Tuesday friends! Since we're only on Day 2 of this fun promotional week, I thought it only appropriate that we get our inspiration straight from the pages of this inspiring magazine. So, I asked super stamper and Paper Crafts Go-to Gal Kim Hughes to choose the card that inspired her the most from the magazine and use that as her Tuesday Trigger. Here's the card she chose:

Always Card by Kimberly Crawford, p. 79

I have been wanting to play along with the fun Tuesday Triggers that Moxie Fab holds every week for quite some time. I finally decided today that I would just sit down and do it! With this great inspiration coming from Kimberly, it didn’t take long at all to create my card. I LOVE it when a project comes together quickly. Especially after working on one that seems to be taking forever! LOL So here is my take on this weeks Tuesday Trigger:

thanks for all you do 2

Love Never Fails ‘1 Corinthians 13:8”

Supplies:

Pattern Paper – Collage Press, Melissa Frances, Canvas Banner – Creative Imaginations, Flowers – Maya Road, Hat Pins – Maya Road, Pears – Queen and Company, Ink – Ranger Distressing Ink, Dictionary Paper, Stickers – Jenni Bowlin Studios, Chipboard – Collage Press

I’ve had this canvas banner sitting in my craft room for some time.  I was recently inspired to do something with it because of all the awesome talent at A Million Memories.  I really love how it turned out.  Lovin’ my vintage finds!!

It’s been a relaxing weekend for the Overby’s.  We’ve been soaking up the sun and have been quite reminded of why we live here on the coast.  Can you believe I even wore a tank top outside one morning?  Okay…it was a bit chilly but still!!  LOL  We are definetly not playing in the snow over here!

Speaking of playing, I never received either of the packages that I thought I’d be getting at the end of the week.  Guess what that means for tomorrow??  I am blocking out a wee bit of time tomorrow evening to play with my goodies that hopefully will be arriving!

Enjoy your Monday!

When Creativity Knocks…You Color My World

1209 JO LO 72 color my world Supplies:  Spellbinders™ S4-114 Standard Circles LG ; S7-018 Big Scalloped Border Grand, Pattern Paper – Jillibean Soup, Ribbon – Creative Impressions, SCRAPBOOK ADHESIVES by 3L, Stickers – Pink Paislee

I thought that was kind of a fun title.  The two kind of run into one another.   Although, I have to say, they are completely seperate and have nothing to do with one another!  LOL

I absolutely adore these photos of my daughter.  They are my FAVORITE!  Combined with my favorite die template (Big Scalloped Border Grand) and that pretty much makes for a happy page!   This is one that was displayed at CHA as well.

Speaking of  CHA I am so excited to get my hands on some Presto Punch Templates!  It was so fun to find out that the Presto Punch is being consider for the ‘Great Crafter’s Tool Hunt’ at When Creativity Knocks.  It’s their second year of putting on the ‘hunt’ for the best tool.  I definitely think the Presto Punch will come out on top!   In order to vote, go to the right of the page to: Vote For Your Tool and click on the circle in front of the tool they are voting for.  If you want to read more about it, you can click here.

Busy, busy times!  I’ve been working again this week.  I just got my final submission sent off to Spellbinders™ Paper Arts for my dt entry.  Eeeek!  Now that it’s all done….the waiting begins.  Suddenly…I canNOT wait until the end of the month!  Hopefully I will be able to share my layout soon.  It was a fun one!

I’m expecting two packages from the man in brown tomorrow.  One of them will be full of goodies that I don’t have a clue what they are (love surprises!)  The other will be full of stuff that I’m so anxious to use.  My ‘creative’ time has slowed down a bit as of late, but I’m hoping to get back into the swing of things soon!

Hope you are finding the time to do something that you love!

So Blessed

IMG_5771

So blessed to be loved…by a wonderful husband and by my Heavenly Father.

So blessed to live by the ocean and be able to watch the waves.  This photo here makes the waves look so huge.  THEY WERE!  LOL

So blessed to have a tad bit of sunshine and enough warmth to actually put our feet in the water (well….okay, the kids did anyway!)

IMG_5654

Max wasn’t sure quite what to think of all this moving white stuff and he really started to worry when his feet started sinking!

Pretty soon he was very interested in playing!

I honestly cannot believe that Max is 6 months already.  Yup….we took him in for the big ‘day’ already too!  Maybe now he’ll stop chewing everything insight!  LOL

By the end of our time, everyone was pretty worn out!  Except Max of course!

Thanks for stopping by!  And…don’t be shy!  I’d love to hear from you!

Spellbinders™ Winter Card

0609 JO crd Winter Wishes (print submission)72

Spellbinders™ S4-216 Kaleidoscope Borderibilities, Spellbinders™ S4-085 Snowflake Wonder,Cardstock – Bazzill, The Paper Company,Pattern Paper – Chatter Box,Glitter – Clearsnap: Winter Frost

Last week was a super fun mail week for me!  Northridge Media sent me two GIANT boxes full of goodies!  I had seven of my projects that had been published returned all at once.  It’s a very good thing I just got my scrap space organized!  So thank you Northridge Media and all the sponsors who contributed.  The card above, ‘Winter Wishes’ is one of the cards that was returned to me.  You can find it in Scrapbook Trends Christmas Card Idea book.  Your-friendship-is-a-Blessi

I also had a bit of time with my new favorite paper last week.  I can’t even believe that GCDStudios ‘Homespun Chic’ pad of paper showed up on my doorstep right before CHA when I was so sick.  It was such a fun surprise but frustrating that I couldn’t do anything with it!  Anyhoo….lovin’ the vintage feel and could create forever on end with this line.  I have a few more cards to share a bit later.

I’ve been subbing all week at the kid’s school.  LOVE being there with them.  And still….I am very looking forward to this three day weekend coming up!!

Thanks so much for stopping by and I pray your day is totally fabulous!

Card-3-inst

Here is another card that  created while doing my post for the Clip it Up blog.  In case you missed the tutorial, I added this quick photo to show how I was able to get this look on this very simple card.  All I did to create a letter press, was take my ink and dab it on to the top of my  Spellbinders™ Impressibilites.  After laying it on my plate, I put my cardstock on top and ran it through my Wizard™.  That’s it!  Easy peasy and oh so very elegant!

Be Free….to be you

Be Free

Love this photo of my sweet, youngest daughter playing on a rope swing this past summer.  This was simple, but elegant layout that I wanted to create to bring emphasis to the movement of the photo.

Just a quick post today.  But I can’t leave without sharing a funny story.  The sun has finally arrived here on the Oregon coast and the yard has been calling my name today!  So, my sweetie pie and I were out workin’ in the flower beds.  I was trimming the rose bushes and she was pulling the ‘wheat thins.’  Over and over again, she kept calling them ‘wheat thins.’  ‘Honey….they are weeDS.’  ‘I know Mom.’  ‘Hey Mom, LOOK at how big this wheat thin is.  DAH!  I mean weeD!’  She was totally not doing it on purpose which is what made it so very hilarious.  Nothing like a  bit of sunshine and laughter!

Reverse Stenciling with Spellbinders™

Just a note card (reverse stenciling) copy

Die Cut template - Spellbinders™ s4-204 Fleur De Lis Pendant, S4-189 Labels Three, S4-213Fleur De Lis Borderabilities®, Papertrey InkCardstock - Papertrey Ink (Dark Chocolate, Spring Moss, Kraft)Ink - Clearsnap (Colorbox: Citrine,) Staz-On (brown)Stamp - Papertrey Ink (Autumn Abundance,)

Yesterday was my design day for the Clip It Up Blog and I decided to share a few techniques!  If you have a moment you can pop over to the website for some more instruction and inspiration.

I’ve actually been wanting  to share a tutorial on the reverse stenciling technique for some time.  Some of you have asked about it, so here it is!

Reverse Inking Technique

Pendant with scrap paper

First off, you will need a scrap piece a paper to lay your die template cut side facing up (I used the accent piece from the Fleur De Lis Pendant set.)

inking

Secondly, ink your die with an ink pad that is very moist.  One that is quite dried up will not work so well.

cut pendant w ink on it

Thirdly, lay your magnetic pad on your plate and lay down another scrap piece of paper just to keep your pad from getting ink all over it.  Then you want to place the paper that you are wanting to cut face down on to the die (my paper happen to be white cardstock.)

Reverse affect

After running your die template through your machine, you can see that the embossed area is still white.  Normally this is the area that you would add chalk or ink on to in order to create the ‘stencil’ look.

After cut

This time, however, the color has been added on to the area that is not embossed…thus the reverse stencil.  Fourthly, before removing paper from die template, you can run it back through your machine with the embossing pad to create a more defined embossed area.

Just a note w ciu

I layered my die template on to a Labels Three Spellbinders Nestabilities® that I inked the edges on.  I then turned a Fleur De Lis Borderabilities® upside down to create a fun little border above my ribbon.  After a bit of layering of my cardstock, I stamped my sentiment and was down quicker than quick.

Hope this was a helpful tutorial for some of you.  There’s still time to enter in the RAK posted below if you are interested.

Happy crafting!

This is fun project I created for Spellbinders™ to go on display at CHA.  It’s a book that has been gutted out with a secret recipe book hiding inside it!  It holds all my favorite recipes.  Imagine how I felt when I realized that just as I was getting to cook….my recipe was in Anaheim!

On to the big news…..Well, it might be a bit early to celebrate but I can say that I’m definitely excited to have made it this far!  I’ve been anticipating this announcement for some time now.  I’m ecstatic to say that I made it into the top 24!  Yay!  Huge congrats to everyone else who made it as well.

CHA RAK

I wanted to share some CHA goodies with my blog readers but since I didn’t collect many things while being there, I am going to offer this kit to one lucky winner.  This is a fabulous My Mind’s Eye kit containing:

6 double sided pattern papers, 2 mini die cut sheets, 6 large die cuts, 2 overlays, 2 packs of rub-ons and I threw an assortment of flowers that match this kit perfectly.

If this is something that interests you, be sure to leave a comment and I will draw a random winner.  This RAK closes on Friday Feb. 5th midnight PST and is open to US residents only.

Thanks for stopping by!
