CHA - Day 1!

Although I didn't go to CHA this year, I've had fun watching for all the sneak peeks and now I'll anxiously wait to hear back from those who got to go. Today is day 1 and I know that I'll be seeing many videos hit the web real soon!

Over on the Fiskateer board, we are celebrating Fiskars turning 360 years old. Can you believe it? I know. Unreal. It's quite the party. The two day crop started yesterday and all the action will continue on throughout today. There's loads of inspiration and prizes. If you want to know more about becoming a Fiskateer, email me and I can point you in the right direction. Fun times! Here is a card that I created real quick last night for one of the challenges.

Our lil' 5 year old. Woosh. She is turnin' into a fish. Her daddy is going to be SHOCKED when he gets here and sees her in the pool. I finally got a camera card for my camera (I had left my two at home, can you believe it?) And now I don't have a card reader. Ugh! So, I took a few from my Mom's point and shoot. These are from early on when she was wearing a life jacket...hint hint. Nothing quite like not having your own equipment!

Although the big cowboy has been enjoying the pool, he as had an especially good time riding Grandme's horses!!

Can't forget the lake. Uncle Mitch took us with his boat.

Yes, as you can see, the kids and I are just suffering as we wait for their Dad to join us here for our vacation.
There has been lots of time for ministry too and I can see why the Lord has us here for such a time as this.

Yesterday we went and looked at all the fire damage. So sad but truly a miracle of God. There were house that had trees burned all around their property and actually on their property but the hous was still standing. Someone was praying, that's for sure!

We are off to Merritt and will return back here on Friday. Won't be bloggin' much at all in that time frame.

I pray your week is blessed!
Hugs,
Julie

Great colors in this line!

Congrats Tona! Email your addy to julieoverby@peak.org Enjoy your sweet paper!
I don't have any projects for you today. We are still on evacuation alert. I thought I'd share some photos instead. Here are a few of the fire. These were from early on when it first started. This is not near the farm and we are not in any danger.

These shots are right along the freeway that is now closed. If I was to leave and come home, I would have to circle way around and go North up the province. Hmmmm....guess I'll just be staying for a while longer! LOL!

This photo is of the mill that they were able to save. What a miracle. We all thought it was going to up in flames for sure.
Since I don't have anything scrappy to share, I thought I'd share some photos of when I took my photography class. While visiting Grandpa and Grandma in Tigard, the kids made some really fun memories with their cousin. I don't have access to most of the shots but here are a few when we were at a family fun center.

Thanks for stopping by. I pray your day is blessed!

Escape - Collage Press

The kids and I are visiting my parents. It's hot, hot, HOT here and I'm loving it. The down side is that my brother and his family and horses have all been evacuated along with 5000 plus houses. We just found out that we are on alert. It's nearly midnight and a bit tough going to sleep not knowing if you are going to have to leave or not. It seems unlikely that the fires will reach this way but I suppose with the winds, it's important just to be cautious. So, with that said....don't know when I'll be blogging again but I wanted to the chance to share a layout that I did before leaving for vacation.

This is the layout I created for Collage Press using the new Knave of Hearts line. It's so masculine...I love it!! The photos are of my brother when he came to visit us. There were some amazing layouts that went up on the Collage Press blog on the 15th. I was totally WOWED! If you get over there before July 21st, you'll have a chance to win the entire line yourself! Hope you win....this paper is totally awesome!

If we aren't evacuated, I'll try and update soon with a winner from a few posts back. I want to leave open until the time I said that I would.

Also, don't forget about the Spellbinders blog frenzy that is still going on. Four more designers have four more fantastic dies to introduce. Check it out!

7/19 Lesa Rapp
7/20 Becca Feeken
7/21 Jennifer Davis
7/22 Keri Lee Sereika

I can't wait to see what these gals have created. That means more chances to win some Spellbinders dies!!

I hope you are all having an awesome weekend. Pray that the fires die. I just found out that there are no more hotels with rooms in the entire city.

I'll be sure to keep you posted.

Hugs,
Julie

I'm so excited to introduce this beautiful new Poinsettia Borderabilities Grand die S7-016. I created a layout about our Christmas party and used the border across the bottom of it.

Supplies: Spellbinders S7-016 Poinsettia Borderabilities Grand, Glitter: Ruby Slippers, Peridot (ClearSnap) Gold Lame Smooch Pearlized Accent Ink (ClearSnap,) Cardstock: Bazzill, Pattern Paper: Collage Press (Scrooge and Marley,) Scenic Route (Roxbury,) Chipboard: Scenic Route (Roxbury,) Alphabet Stickers: American Crafts, Making Memories

If you don't have a Grand Cut Mat Kit, you can still use this border die with a shorter white master mat. You will just have to run it twice through your machine.

Your sandwich should be as follows: 1) Master Mat 2) Spacer plate 3) Die (cut side up) 4) paper 5) Master Mat

The end that is not being cut slides in first, coming toward you. The extra will be sticking out the bottom.

When you are done, it should look like the photo above and you will need to pick up your die template and paper and move it up onto the spacer plate.

Do the same to emboss using the sandwich as follows: 1) Master Mat 2) die (cut side up) 3) paper that has been cut and is fitting in the die 4) Tan embossing pad 5) Master Mat

After you remove it, the half embossed image will look like this. Repeat the same steps just as you did to cut.

To add the glitter, keep the paper in the die and paint modge podge onto the embossed side. It's best to add it in small sections at a time so the glue doesn't dry before adding glitter. After adding the first color of glitter, use a paint brush to get rid of extra glitter.

Before removing it from the die, add the green glitter in sections the same way as the red.

Carefully peel the paper from the die and paint Smooch Pearlized Accent Ink onto the remaining embossed parts. Let dry.

Adhere to cardstock strip and embellish your scrapbook page.

I love cream Poinsettias at Christmas time and I wanted to create a card that used the Poinsettia Borderabilities Grand die S7-016 with a cream look.

After cutting and embossing the die, I used Smooch Pearlized Accent Ink to paint on a lighter color and gold to give it highlights. Then I mounted it on green cardstock and curled up the petals so that the green could be seen underneath.

Here is all the information you'll want to know about this die. Please be sure you read through the rules posted bellow for your chance at winning this gorgeous die!

Poinsettia Borderabilities Grand #S7-016 MSRP $24.99

Measurements: 12 x 2-3/4"

Spellbinders Labels 8 and CHA Sneak Peeks

CHA is just around the corner and this has got to be one of my favorite times of the year. I love all the excitement and anticipation of what will be coming out at the summer show. I'm so glad that you will get a chance to see many of the 27 new dies that Spellbinders is coming out with.

The big blog frenzy started yesterday and Debbie Olson did an outstanding job debuting the new Labels 8 die. Her project was amazing!! This is one of my favorite dies so far and if I didn't have the priviledge of already owning it, I would definitley be wanting it after seeing her amazing creation.

I wanted to share with you one of the projects that I was able to create with it.
There are so many possibilities with this shape die!

**I also wanted to mention one other thing about this card. I ran my Maya Road Chipboard letters through my Spellbinders machine using an impressibility and then inked them so the pattern showed up. It's a very cool way to add texture to your chipboard!**

Die: Spellbinders S5 - 019 Labels 8, Spellbinders Impressabilities 12-1004 FLowers, Cardstock - Bazzill, Pattern Paper – October Afternoon, Chipboard – Cosmo Cricket, Maya Road, Ink – Colorbox (ClearSnap)

Don't forget, if you want your chance to win one of the new CHA Spellbinders dies, check out the Spellbinders blog to see how you can enter.

The second designer introducing the next die for day two is Michelle Wooderson. Be sure to check out her creation!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. Swing by Sunday for a fantastic give-away and one more way to use Labels 8.

"Oh Say Can you See" 4th of July Blog Hop

Happy Fourth of July!! Welcome to the Scrapbook News and Review “Oh Say Can You See 4th of July Blog Hop.” If you came from Peggy's Blog you are on the right track! If you didn't you may want to hop to Srapbook News and Review Card Universe and start at the beginning.

This is a pretty simple card that I dressed up with some Maya Road mist and some glitter.

Supplies - Cardstock - Bazzil, Pattern Paper - Scenic Route, Chipboard - Scenic Route, Stickers - Pink Paislee, Creative Imaginations, Ribbon - Creative Imaginations, Mist - Maya Road, Glitter - ClearSnap

The first thing I did was use my red Maya Road mist to spray the chipboard stars. While it was drying, I sewed red cardstock paper to the card.

After they were dry, I used my quick glue pen and added random dots and then poured silver glitter on the wet glue. I shook off the extra glitter and using pop dots added them to the front of the card. A bit of ribbon and a simple sentiment and viola!

It's hard to really see the glitter but here is a bit of a close up.

I wanted to offer a lil' red, white and blue for one of my blog readers. It's hard to see in the photo: Scenic Route stickers, Heidi Swapp puffy stickers, Jenni Bowlin and Maya Road journaling tags, glitz gems, flowers, buttons, bling, paper clips and ribbon! If you are interested, just leave a comment. RAK will be open until Monday, midnight.

Next on the hop is Winnie. Check out what she created!

I hope you are all having a super fabulous and safe holiday. Thank you to all the American soldiers and families who have sacrificed so much, in the past and in the present, for our freedom. God bless you and God bless America!!

Too. Much. Fun.

So much goodness I just don't know where to start. We just got back last night from Portland where I was taking that photography class. I loooooved it and got to apply it in action today which you'll get to see in a bit. In my mail box were two new sets of very fun stamps from JustRite. I thought we had some more coming but I wasn't sure so it was a very fun surprise. And of course, more of the new CHA dies from Spellbinders which I can't share but you are all going to LOVE!!

Before I woke up this morning, the kids were already crafting away with their new stack of construction paper that we got at Costco. Boy, I sure should have replenished that along time ago!! I really want to share with you what Ashley created. The hard part about designing is that right before a big show, you are creating so many fun projects but you can't share them yet! So, although I have some fun new projects, I'll be sharing my daughters today.

It's forth of July fire workers and I think it's more creative than anything I could ever put together!

I'm a manual girl!!! Huh? Let me explain. This morning, we head out to the church site to help with the demolition derby. Please keep in mind that I have just come back from this photograpy class. I was the only female there (even though at different times some of the women in the church have been helping.) So, I show up in my flip flops with my camera strapped to my side. Gloves go on. I toss a few pieces of scrap material...start reciting everything that I learned in my class in my head...gloves come off...I snap a few photos...gloves go back on....toss a few scraps....gloves come off...snap a few more shots... I am so sure that these guys in their construction boots thought that I was an absolute looney. I honestly could not concentrate on tossing wood because I was having so much fun with my aperature and shutter settings. Every photo I took was in manual and you have no idea how excited I am to say that. To a lot of you, that means nothing. To me, a whole nother field of creativity has just been sparked. I have a bazzillion shots to share and I know that there are some readers who are very interested. The rest of you, bare with me as I share our exciting journey through a mass reconstruction.

But, before I do, I have more fun news to share. So, after we finish at the church, we pull up to the step and I recognize the pizza boxes sitting on my step and I'm so thrilled. The funny thing is, while we were in Portland, I had to run into a craft store (ya know...just had to!) and find a May CARDS magazine. I've been trying to update my Scrapbook Resume and I had it down that I had a project in that issue but I could not for the life of me remember what it was. So.....I found it in the store. It's still so fun seeing your work in print.

As you may have guessed, the two boxes were actually four of my returned projects. Unfortunately, one of the boxes had an apology letter saying that they had sold all their issues of the Scrapbook Trends Stamping book and weren't able to send it to me. They sent me two other books and lots of scrapbook supplies but I'm telling you I was most looking forward to this issue. I don't even have a place close by that sells it. They gave me a link to view it online and I will but it's not the same as having your own copy. I was very dissapointed but I sure understand that mistakes happen. Now I have 6 new magazine/books to look at. I'm going on a big road trip tomorrow to send my son to camp. Too bad I'm the one driving! LOL!

It's so funny because I looked and looked at this card below and thought, 'how odd, that's not even balanced and doesn't look like something I'd create.' LOL I just now opened the 'returned' bag and saw that pieces must have fallen off and never got put back on. Hmmmm.....I must use more glue dots!

This one is my favorite. I just love how they staged it.

Now for the moment I know you've all been waiting for...he he....the demolition photos. Boys and their toys you know!! I'm trying to scale down on the amount I share because I took a ton. I know this post has been so long already! Also....these are unedited...and remember, I'm 'playing' in manual, I'm not a professional quite yet! LOL!

So, does anyone know of a good line of paper that would be perfect for a remodel?? I feel a mini album comin' on! LOL!
