Mistin' and Lovin It!

Recently I was cutting out bunches of doily dies from pattern paper.  I was using wax paper in between the die and the paper because of the fine detail in the die.  It ended up that I had a scrap pile of pretty wax doilies that I just couldn't throw away! So, I decided to use them as masks for the misting I did on this layout of my sweet, darlin' daughter.

I wanted to pull out the vibrant greens and pinks in the gorgeous Splendor, Posies pattern paper.

First I layed down the doily at the top of my cardstock so that only half of it was actually on the paper.  Then I sprayed it with glimmer mist.

Then I did the same to the side of my paper.  After spraying it with green I removed the used doily and layed down a 'clean' one slightly over top of the masked image.  This time I used pink to spray over it.

After it was dry, I cut out a large circle and banners from pattern paper and adhere them to the layout.  I sewed on a few more strips and cut out some die cuts for embellishements.  I also adhered a bit of trim to soften the page up just a bit.

Tip ~ When spraying on to a wax paper mask, spray straight down so that none of the glimmer mist seeps under it when you spray.  And....cover your table well or use a box!

Creating masks from die cuts can give you endless designs.  I hope you get to try it soon!

The new die templates that I am introducing on my projects are:

LF-016 Decorative Grand Ovals One

S4-371 Les Papillion
MSRP - $24.99

S4-371 Papillion

Both these sets are so elegant that I decided to create a wedding book that could be used as a Guest Book or even a special little album to hold some of the cherished snap shots from the big day.

1)  To begin, I used Spellbinders™ Grand Calibur® machine to cut/embossed four, Decorative Grand Ovals One #5 (#1 being the smallest) from white cardstock.  I also cut two from chipboard; one for the front and one for the back.  I adhered the white oval to the front and back of the first chipboard die-cut. Then the last two white ones to the front and back of the second chipboard die-cut.

2)  I cut six Grand Ovals #4 (#1 being the smallest) for the inside of the book.  Next, I cut a Grand  Oval die template out of pattern paper and adhered it to the front cover of the book.

3) I cut/embossed Lacey Doily Accents, and adhered the strip across the book.

4)  To frame the title, I cut/embossed Decorative Grand Ovals One #1 and used foam squares to adhere it.  I used alphabet stickers to create the title.

5)  To embellish the book, I added some bling flourishes and cut out two butterflies.  I used a glue pen to adhere some glitter to the outer edges of the butterfly and also added pearls to the center. Then I adhered them to the photo.

6)  Next, I cut/embossed a rose flower and an anemone flower topper; I also added glitter to the edge of the flower and a pearl to the center.  Then I adhered it to the card.

7)  The last piece that I cut/embossed was Spiral Blossoms One flower.  After rolling it and taping it, I added glitter to the edges and a pearl to the center.  I placed them on the book as well.

8)  Lastly, I layered all of my pages and punched two holes through the layers.  This beautiful white ribbon was the perfect last touch, so I strung it through and tied a pretty bow.

These Decorative Grand Ovals One die templates could work beautifully on a layout, book, altered piece, album or even a card!  And of course the butterflies are the perfect touch for just about anything!  For my next project, I combined the two to make a bright, summer card.

You are a Blessing!

Hey everyone!  Wanted to hop on with a quick card and some news that you're not going to want to miss!!  Thursday, June 21st is the beginning of Spellbinders Paper Arts Sneak Peek blog frenzy!!  You will never believe all the inspiration that comes from these reveals.  On top of the amazing artwork, you get to see a bunch of the new dies that they will be coming out with at CHA summer AND lots of chances to win some of your own.  Check back here on the 21st for more info!

Love, love, LOVE this sentiment.  You are a timeless blessing.  There are so many people that I want to share this sentiment with.  It's a fabulous Unity stamp set.  I also used some yummy Pink Paislee London Market papers to create this card.  The big layered flowers are a Spellbinders set called...just that!  'Layered Flowers.'  I stamped the sentiment and cut it out with a Classic Oval Sm die and adhered it to a tag from the Tags and Flags die template set.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  You are a blessing!

Wooosh...speedy!

Hey everyone!  Where has the time gone? I can't believe that Father's day is right around the corner!  That got me to thinking, I never did share my Mother's Day card that I made for my Mother-in-law!  This lady has been a pillar of strength and such a source of inspiration for me over the years.  I wanted to make her a special card and I stepped out of my box for this one a bit.  I used untraditional colors and I did quite a bit of stamping, embossing and inking!

Hopefully I will get a Father's Day card one and maybe have it in time to share as well!  It's my Grandma's Birthday week and we are celebrating this week so I'll be putting together something pretty to celebrate her ninety......95? birthday I think!  Wow!  She is one amazing woman.

Speaking of amazing.  I have to brag on my daughter for just a bit.  Proud Mama moment..sorry!  All these years that Ashley has played soccer we knew she had speed like the wind.  When we moved to Canada it turned out that they start track and field in forth grade.  So, this 10 year old qualified for districts in 100 meter and then a few weeks later, went on to first place out of 22 schools.  She was crazy excited.  My grin was pretty big as well.  ; )

Thanks for letting me share!  Hope you have a fabby day!

Delicate and Distressed Cards

Hi everyone!  Can't believe the weekend is here already!  The weeks are just flying by!

Here are two more cards I taught in my card class this week.  The first card has a Just Rite Stampers butterfly from the Botanical Butterfly set that we colored in using the new Tim Holtz distress markers.  I used Core-dinations distress paper that has a Kraft core to cut/emboss the Lattice Accent which frames the butterfly.  I LOVE this Kraft core cardstock because it really shows off any embossed details from that the dies create.

The second card is based off another card I created for the store.  The base is a shimmery gold paper cut with the Spellbinders Romantic Rectangle die template.  Then I embossed some cardstock and added four different distress inks.  I finished off that piece with some Pearl Mist and you can't tell from the photo but it's so pearly and very pretty!  I stamped the sentiment with a Unity stamp called Mod clocks and cut it out with Spellbinders Labels Twenty Five.  The sweet lil' rolled flowers are from a new Page Maps set called Whimsey.

I love hangin' out with the paper crafters from around here.  We had such a great class and everyone really enjoyed the different techniques.  I'm hoping to be teaching a layout one soon!

Hope your weekend is blessed and you are surrounded with inspiration!

GCD Studios The Paper Cut!

Hey everyone!  Have you had a chance to check out the super cool new issue of Paper Cuts that GCDStudios put out?

The girls did such a fabulous job!  You can see it on the GCD Studios Blog.  There is also an opportunity there to WIN a beautiful collection called BONJOUR!

My assignment was to create a lacey layout and to use punches in a creative way.  This was a bit of a stretch for me because you know how much I love my dies!  And, the few punches that I own are in storage!  LOL  Good thing I am surrounded by paper crafters (thanks Mom and Gina!)  They came to my rescue and let me borrow a few.  You can read more about my layout and the article in the Paper Cuts.  There is lots of inspiration in the June issue and a great article about color!

Hope you had an amazing weekend!  I seriously can't believe it's June already.  I'm excited for the kids to get out of school.  They go all the way until the end of June.  They aren't too happy about that!  LOL

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today.  I'm just loving all your comments....they mean so very much to me.  Hugs!
