Beach Babe

I am seriously longing for beach days right now.  Anybody?  It’s to believe that it has ever been hot enough here for my kiddos to play on the beach but this big rock is sometimes enough to sheild the cool, coastal breeze.  My kids love to play in the sand regardless of the weather!

To create this layout, I used some yummy Lily Bee Design Hello Sunshine pattern paper.  Appropriate don’t you think?  I made my black border with Spellbinders™ Parisian Accents and my tab with  Spellbinders Wonky Rectangles.   I also put together my own flower and butterfly embellishment using some Tattered Angles Glimmer Mist as well as Rose Creations and Fanciful Flight.  On the Spellbinders blog, you can read a tutorial on how to make a banner using Banner Basics Three and Sparkle n Sprinkle glitter!

My three sweeties are off to school today for the first time in a week and a half.  They were dragging their feet just a tad and I was wishing we had just a few more days together.  Hoping that summer will get here quickly!

If you noticed a new look to blog, it is still under construction.  But, I did want to let you know that I my beautiful banner was designed by Viola Mahr.  She has some fabulous vintage items in her Viola’s Etsy shop.  Her creations are amazing and I must say she is one very talented young lady!

Layers of Color *Happy Birthday*

Today I have another card created with Layers of Color.

I have enjoyed being Layers of Color guest designer for March.  The sentiment on this card was stamped using one of my very favorite stamps sets that Nina Bracket designed for Layers of Color.  It is called Happy Wishes and it’s one of the happiest sets I’ve ever seen!  It is has been created so that you can piece together your sentiments in several different ways…..Happy Birthday….Birthday Wishes…..however you want to say it.  LOVE it! 

I chose to stamp it on a Spellbinders™ Reverse Wonky Rectangle #2 (#1 being the smallest.)  The back drop to my sentiment is some lush layers of My Mind’s Eye (Lush), Crate Paper (Emma’s Shoppe) and a bit of sheet music peeking through.  I also snuck in the edge of a Floral Doily Accent which I seem to be grabbing on a very regular basis lately!  I topped that off with a bit of KaiserCraft trim and added a bow, flower and pearls to embellish. 

I want to thank Laura at Layers of Colors for giving me the opportunity to work with their fabulous product this month.  I truly love their stamps so you will be seeing a lot more of them in times to come!

Today I will be showcasing  s4-236 Baby Border Petite and S4-306 Wonky Rectangle die templates which work wonders together when designing cute Baby Shower favors.  Remember the days when the milk man would drop of your cartons of milk on the front porch?  There’s nothing like a sweet treat in a great container!

I first created four milk cartons out of cardstock and pattern paper from My Mind’s Eye (Lush) and Crate Paper (Emma’s Shoppe).  I googled paper craft milk cartons and downloaded a template from the internet.  After scoring the milk carton template, I taped down a S4-306 Wonky Rectangle #2 (#1 being the smallest.) Then I ran the entire piece through the Grand Calibur; first cutting and then embossing it.   Next I adhered a piece of acetate to the inside in order to create a window. 

To create the frame for the window, I used the same Wonky Rectangle die template  and taped it on to pattern paper.  By placing the next size down (#1) inside I was able to create a frame after cutting and embossing it. 

After folding the carton template and adding pattern paper, I cut and embossed a S4-293 Lacey Circles #1.  Then I inked the edges with Clearsnap Colorbox Chestnut Roan chalk ink and adhered it to the carton with 3D Foam Dots SCRAPBOOK ADHESIVES by 3L .  The little teddy bear was the negative pieces I used from the inside of the s4-236 Baby Border Petite die template.  I added the finishing touch with a bow and a pearl!

Next, I scored the  Milk Crate template and inked the edges and added pattern paper.   To create the word BABY, I  adhered a piece of Sookwang adhesive to some scrap cardstock and placed s4-236 Baby Border Petite die template on it. 

Then I cut the word Baby out of the border and peeled off the backing of the tape.  I taped green colored cardstock behind to make the word pop.  After that I added glitter to the sticky side of the die template.  Lastly, I used foam dots to place it on the front and then I added my bow and button to the top.

Lily Bee Design Vintage Poppy

It’s been one, big SEVEN year old party around here!  I'm anxious to share some photos but I must sort through them all first.  My nine year old has been bit by the photography bug and you would not believe how many photos she took.  I thought I was bad!  Ha!

I was so completely inspired with this Vintage Poppy Paper after creating my layout, that I decided to go ahead and make a card as well.  The flowers were made out of a Spellbinders Lacey Circle die template.

Layers of Color Layout

Happy spring my friends!!  I wanted to share with you another one of my projects I created as a Guest Designer for Layers of Color.  I used the Brick Wall stamp on my cardstock and built my layout from that.  Isn’t he the sweetest kid ever?  I’m soooo glad he’s mine!

I also wanted to share some uber exciting things happening around our here! 

I love to see little bits of  new life bursting from the earth.  It just reminds me of fresh beginnings and much hope for a great tomorrow.  In just a few days we are already to this stage and before you know it…..there will be color; one of my very favorite things! 

The next bit of exciting dirt that has been stirred is in our back yard!!  I am ecstatic to share the news that we are adding on to our house!  Yup….I came home from CHA and my sweet hubby and kids sat me down to let me know that it had been worked out for us to begin a remodel that we have talked about for years!  It will include a larger living room, dining room and a scrap room office/workout room.  Yippeee!!  I cannot wait to get organized and I’ve been studying several ways to design a scrap room office/gym space.  I’d love to hear any tips you have.  And, you know I’ll be taken a billion pictures along the way!

This is not green or springy but is exciting all the same!  Memory Makers will be releasing this book in the next few weeks and I have a layout of Ashley in it.  I think it’s the 10th one down on the cover there.  LOL  

I can’t wait to see it!  Thanks so much for letting me share all my excitement today!

Happy Tuesday everyone!  That means Layers of Color for me!  This is a simple card I created for them as their March Guest Designer.  I love the fun font in the Happy Wishes set that Nina B. designed.  I actually embossed this sentiment with embossing powder.  Yup!  I dusted off my heat gun!  **gasp**  I colored the Starflower card with my Copic Markers. 

Today I am excited to be doing a Make n Take at our local store.  In April I will be teaching classes.  I' can’t wait! 

My lil’ muffin head is not feelin’ so hot and I feel like I might be coming down with what ever she has had.  I think I’ll be trying to snatch some rest in the next few days!

Spellbinders™ Shaped Card

Hi blog friends!  I have a different kind of card to share with you today.  Creating shaped cards has become even more fun since Spellbinder’s Large Format die templates!  Yesterday, I did a tutorial on the Spellbinder’s blog on to create these kinds of cards.  For full instructions, you can visit there.  I just adore these Banner Basics die templates because you can mix and match them to your liking.  And they are perfect for cards or layouts!

In a time like this when we so much devastation in the world, it’s hard to think about celebrating.  We are celebrating the healthy life that we have and all the blessings around us.  At the same time, praying earnestly for all the victims and their families in Japan.  It reminds me of why I believe I have been placed here and that is to bring a message of hope to those who are ready.  Praying that those families who have been affected find strength to make it through the days to come.

Sympathy Card

I had so much fun creating my first post for the Spellbinders blog that I decided to use the same concept and create a second card while my supplies were still out.  Have you ever given yourself permission to inspire yourself?  I think this is the first time ever for me!  I always feel like with everything I create I have to come up with something new!  Well, this card is quite different from yesterdays but definitely has some of the same elements.  For instance, I used the same Post It paper which is craft paper from the company who makes Post It notes.  You just peel the back off and add glitter.  It’s fabulous!  The stamp is also from JustRite but it’s a saying for a sympathy card.  It worked perfect stamped right on top of this card. 

I also used the same border as yesterday but I turned it upside down and covered the other half.  It is Spellbinders S5-040 Floral Doily Accent border.
